Japanese Box also known as buxus microphylla japonica, is an extremely strong evergreen plant with attractive vibrant, glossy green leaves. Older growth presents as a darker green, whereas new growth is a lighter, fresh lime green. Our topiary box plants with handle heat very well and are extremely well suited to warm climates such as ours here in South Australia. Plant or place in a sunny spot or somewhere with partial shade. Once established, these plants are very robust and will not require a great deal of watering.
A very versatile grower, Japanese Box is perfect as a shaped topiary or as perfectly defined straight hedges. Buxus has dense evergreen leaves making it easy to trim and shape. Planted in ground, with regular maintenence, Japanese Bux topiary can grow to a meter high and high. In pots, the plants growth is more limited to the pot in which they live. The bigger the pot, the bigger they’ll grow.
